Another characteristic mural artist has several big paintings in Wellington city.  This one is on the wall of Lazule, a jewellery shop on Cuba Street – the left hand one. Something about them reminds me of Aztec designs – the hooded eyes, the layered ‘jungle’ texture, the vegetable plumage, the intense mouth…

I’m not sure whether the painting on the right side is from the same artist – if so, he/she has diametrical opposing styles. ‘Kandinsky’-style? Maybe the painter is ambidextrous! I can’t decipher the signature on the lower side of the painting – maybe Cpolar?

Another one is on the wall of a dairy on Wallace Street. The signature on the upper-left on the mural seemed to be GHSTIE? Any ideas?

I have to say, opposite the dairy on Wallace there is interesting mural painted of the retaining wall of the house. A squadron of aeroplanes take off in the blue beyond! Maybe the house owner commissioned it? Or the council approve it? It has been there for a long, long time.
